Mayyil N.R.I Forum is a friendship circle which aims to build up a strong and firm relationship for better understanding and reinforce brotherhood among its members. The idea originally took birth in the minds of a group of people a long time back. But due to the harsh realities of present day expatriate life in the Emirates it took quite a long time to give shape to such an organization. This friendship circle was officially formed on December 31, 2005. Expatriates who hail from the remote villages of Mayyil, Kuttiyattor and Kolachery of the Kannur district, residing in U.A.E are estimated to be more than 750.

This non profitable organization formed for the well being of the expatriates hailing from these three panchayaths aspire to function beyond religious, communal or socio-political barriers. It reminds us that we all are the offsprings of Mayyil irrespective of our socio economic or other differences. This union of friendship realizes the uniqueness of each person and that each individual is an integral part of this society. Also it reminds us that we all are responsible and has the right to contribute his own services to the well being of his native place as well as the country which provides his livelihood. Also we realize that our union should not be for vested interests but for noble causes.

There are written byelaws to govern the Mayyil N.R. I. Forum. As per the regulation any person who was born in these three panchayaths or owns property in this territory can be a member of the Forum. Also persons who have spouses hailing from these areas are also eligible for membership. In general Individuals who can work for the well being of these three places can take a membership and work for improving the conditions of the needy. Our motto is to "support and uplift through combined effort". We are bound to ensure the well being of our brothers. Mayyil N.R. I. Forum is committed to provide assistance to their members in legal, consular and medical requirements. Also we will aspire to help those people who suffer from unfortunate financial debts through our collective effort.

Mayyil N.R.I Forum functions under the guidance of a Central Executive committee . The Executive Committee is based in Dubai which meets every month. The various duties are de-centralised to several sub-committees by the Executive Committee. The main sub-committees are the Welfare Committee and the Service Committee. The Welfare Committee is responsible for constituting all the types of welfare programmes under the guidance of the Executive committee. The Service Committee is meant for providing guidance to the members for consular, legal and career related matters. Apart from this, three regional sub- committees are also functioning. They are Abu Dhabi Sub committee, Sharjah - Ajman Sub-committee and Northern Emirates Sub-committee. This organizational set up enables us to work more closely with all levels of people and constitute our programmes towards the betterment of all members.
